Preparing for mechanic ACS Written, Oral, and Practical Exams

Thanks to Dennis Pollard at stacheair.com for compiling this.

For the past several months I have been learning and preparing for the new ACS subjects that all part 147 AMTS should have by now included in their curriculums. The new ACS testing standards have been published listing all the subjects as well as several new subjects.

https://www.faa.gov/.../Aviation_Merchanic_Certification...

Be advised some of the ACS subjects that will be on the FAA mechanic exams are NOT in the FAA mechanic handbooks FAA-H-8083A or the revision ”B” that will be released July 2023.

Not to worry the additional data is covered in FAA-G-ACS-1, Companion Guide to the Aviation Mechanic General, Airframe, and Powerplant Airman Certification Standards. In the back of the companion guide is a list of FAA documents you should download to go with your studies and to review before you take the mechanic ACS exams. These titles, AC, and handbooks are FREE to download and I can guarantee DMEs will use these reference books for many of the new practical projects. In addition, many of the new ACS questions on the written, oral, and practical oral tests will come from these reference books.

I have provided a master list of all the reference books below. And all of these can be found on this website in the reference manual section, or you can follow the hyperlinks below.
